New adventures.....

Well what am I up to now? ……………….A trip to Flax Mill Textiles today to pick up my new project.

From the depths of Hermann’s workshop, out of the gloom loomed a clutter of wooden spars and rusty cogs. Brushing off the dust and dislodging the spiders I brought the beams, shafts and gables out into the daylight. Once laid out in front of the mill it was obvious that the wood was in good condition but the metal was rusty. Not the end of the world.

The loom started life in Galashiels, built by Aarol Young Ltd millwrights, possibly in the early twentieth century. I am looking forward to finding out more. She was used somewhere near Ballymena, but not for a long time. So much to find out!

I will clean the parts and piece her together, finding or making any parts that are missing….. watch this space.
